Leukemia Program
The comprehensive leukemia program at Northside Hospital provides state of the art care for patients with leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), including acute myeloid
leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and chronic myeloid leukemia(CML).
The physicians involved are nationally recognized in the care of leukemia patients and are available to provide consultation for urgent referrals and established patients on a 24-hour a day schedule. The program offers innovative therapies for leukemia patients including access
to novel investigational therapies in collaboration with national organizations including CALGB, Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, National Cancer Institute (NCI) and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Comprehensive and compassionate care is provided in a 17-bed state-of-the-art, HEPA-filtered inpatient leukemia unit at Northside Hospital, which is staffed by oncology certified nurses and ancillary professionals experienced in management of leukemia patients.
Outpatient care is provided in a dedicated, HEPA-filtered Clinic that has been designed to provide maximum protection from infection in a comfortable environment. The facility is the only leukemia clinic in Georgia that operates 7 days a week.
We are committed to tailoring individualized treatment plans for our patients. You and your family will receive comprehensive education regarding your diagnosis and treatment options. In support of offering you the broadest range of treatment options available, we also participate in an array of clinical trials for patients with newly diagnosed, relapsed, and refractory leukemia.
We also facilitate solutions for patients and their families with non-clinical issues, such as local housing (if needed) following hospital discharge, as well as other psychosocial and financial support resources.

Our program concentrates on the treatment of patients with acute leukemia, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), advanced myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and blast crisis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Patients with these conditions frequently need urgent evaluation and disease management services; and our physicians are available to accept newly diagnosed patients 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
