Inpatient Facilities

The Leukemia and Stem Cell Transplant unit at Northside Hospital consists of 17 private HEPA-air filtered rooms. This state-of-the-art facility is the only transplant isolation unit in Georgia that provides strict isolation precautions to reduce the risk of developing airborne infections and nosocomially-transmitted infections. The unit includes a family room, exercise treadmill and stationary bicycle. The nursing staff has undergone formal training in the care of patients with leukemia and undergoing stem cell transplantation, including continuing professional education throughout the year. The facility incorporates Northside Hospital’s extensive array of support services including an on-site Hematopoietic Stem Cell Processing Laboratory. Patients are seen by the multidisciplinary transplant team, including a transplant physician, on a daily basis.

Outpatient Clinic Facility
Our outpatient leukemia and stem cell transplant clinic is the only facility in Georgia that provides HEPA-air filtered patient care areas to reduce the transmission of airborne infections. The treatment center has a large and comfortable infusion center, private negative pressure isolation rooms, on-site pharmacy, examination rooms, procedure rooms, family waiting area and consultation conference rooms. Comfortable patient lounge chairs, as well as hospital beds are provided to patients requiring prolonged day-care. The outpatient facility is open on both weekends and holidays for patient care. Individual televisions are provided at each patient lounge area.


Hematopoietic Marrow/Stem Cell Processing Laboratory
The entire GMP stem cell processing laboratory located at Northside Hospital is staffed by experienced medical technologists and is HEPA-filtered to reduce the transmission of airborne infections. The laboratory performs autologous, allogeneic,and unrelated stem cell processing, including CD34+ selections and adoptive immunotherapy procedures. CD34+ selection is performed using state-of-the-art technology (Isolex 300i and CliniMACS systems). The facility is state licensed and accredited by AABB and FACT.
